Promoting your programs is key. If people in your local community don’t know about the hub, they can’t join in. Here are some ideas on how to do this.
Word of mouth
- Use parents and local community groups leaders to spread the word about the hub. The more friendships you can encourage, the more successful it will be.
Promotional material
- Promote the hub in the school newsletter.
- Display posters, flyers and timetables in school reception areas and in classrooms.
- Consider translating materials using engaging photos, graphics and clear language.
- Highlight when activities are free or when food will be on offer.
- Drop flyers in your local neighbourhood.
- Ask your support agency to distribute timetable through their network.
- Make a short video that highlights hub activities and present this at a school assembly or another forum.
- Use social media.
Be the voice
- Provide updates to your school and senior leaders.
- Present at staff meetings and speak at network meetings.
- Hold activities where parents can bring a friend.
- Attend festivals and invite local news media to cover special events.
Referrals
- Keep your hub support coordinator in the loop about new programs/events and develop a contact list of people working in local support services.
