The quality of the relationships you establish with your school, the principal and the hub leader is critical to the hub’s success.
To build these relationships, you can:
- Get to know the teachers and educational support staff at local hub schools (including the admin team).
- Regularly visit all hubs in your local network.
- Encourage hub leaders to attend and speak at staff meetings and school assemblies to raise awareness.
- Share ideas with the hub leaders and principals on creative ways to use the hub space to engage the wider school in the hub, for example, use of the hub space for breakfast club or homework programs, and encourage hub activities that contribute to the school, for example, sewing library bags.
- Seek out stories of impact from the hub and share these with other local hub leaders.
- Show hub leaders and principals how to link the objectives of the hub into the objectives of the school, for example, transition programs and early learning activities link in with strategic priorities of school readiness.
- Ensure that all hub leaders and principals have plenty of opportunities to connect with other hub leaders and principals through formal or informal networks.
